Acting president of the Chancellor College Academic Staff Union (CCASU), Jessie Kabwila (on photo)- Kapasula says she will continue to fight for academic freedom despite an attempt to dismiss her from employment and withdraw her benefits.
Kabwila alongside three other at Chancellor College -University of Malawi – colleagues received letters of dismissal from their employer the university council Wednesday, March 30 and the University Council has since frozen the benefits despite the lecturers obtaining a court injunction stopping the dismissal.
She said the decision to fire them was in connection to the continued stand-off between the lecturers and police chief Peter Mukhitho.
